Capes
99 in a skill earns its cape: a quiet particle trail behind you. A max cape for all five 99s, a quest cape for the whole codex arc. Cosmetic only.
A cape is a trail of one vanilla particle behind your back. It is not an item and it needs no resource pack. It gives no power, no speed and no protection. It only shows that you did the work.
What earns a cape
| Cape | You need | Particle |
|---|---|---|
| Exploration | Exploration 99 | happy villager (green stars) |
| Navigation | Navigation 99 | cloud |
| Survival | Survival 99 | crit |
| Contracting | Contracting 99 | enchant (glyphs) |
| Slayer | Slayer 99 | witch (purple) |
| Max | 99 in all five skills | firework |
| Quest | Every page of codex arc 1 read (all ten) | enchanted hit |
Capes follow your levels. Nothing is stored: a 99 you already have counts at once. If a skill is ever added, the max cape needs it too.
Wearing one
By default the game picks for you: the max cape if you have it, else the skill cape with the most XP, else the quest cape.
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/cape |
Lists your capes and the one you wear. |
/cape <skill|quest|max|auto|off> |
Wears that cape. auto lets the game pick. off wears none. |
/cape others off |
Hides other players' capes for you. /cape others on shows them again. |
Who sees it
- You always see your own.
- Other players see it only if they can see you and are within 32 blocks.
- It never shows while you sneak, are invisible, dead or in spectator.
- It never shows anyone where you are: it is only drawn near you, to players the server already sends you to.
- All capes on the server share one particle budget, so a crowd of capes cannot lag it.
Quest points and the quest cape are in Skills. The tiers and tasks of the diaries are on their own page.
