Weekly trials

One scored trial each week. The winner gets a numbered relic.

Each week there is one trial. The server scores it by itself. Nobody picks a winner by hand.

/weekly (aliases /trial and /trials) shows this week's trial: the task, the rules, the time left, the top 3, your score and the last winner.

How a week works

  • A trial runs from Monday 00:00 UTC to Sunday 20:00 UTC.
  • The type comes from a shuffled list. Every trial runs once per cycle, and the same one never runs twice in a row.
  • Every day at 20:00 UTC the top 3 are posted as rank and score only. Names stay hidden until the week ends.
  • /weekly top shows the top 10, also as rank and score.
  • At the end, the winner is named and gets a relic.
  • If nobody reaches the minimum score, there is no winner and no relic is issued.
  • Ties go to the player who reached the score first.

Who can score

You need at least 3 hours of playtime and a first join at least 48 hours before the week started. Players who do not qualify neither score nor count as victims.

The relic

A relic is a normal item with a custom name, lore and a serial number. It is never stronger than what vanilla can make. It goes straight to you if you are online, or on your next join. If your inventory is full, it drops at your feet and only you can pick it up.

The server keeps a record of every serial and winner, so it always knows which relic is the original.

The trials

Trial Score
Curse Time carrying the Eye within 1,500 blocks of spawn. You must type /weekly accept first. Your name, dimension and position, rounded to 250, are shown every 5 minutes while you carry it.
Headhunter Kills within 1,000 blocks of spawn.
Lighthouse at the Origin Time your beacon burns within 32 blocks of spawn.
Regicide Kills across the line between last week's top killers and everyone else, within 2,000 blocks of spawn. Each pair counts once a day.
Spawn Survivor Longest single life within 500 blocks of spawn.
King of the Hole Time as the lowest player within 64 blocks of spawn. Players tied at the same height all score.
Buried Relic A chest is hidden 1,000 to 5,000 blocks out. Digits of its coordinates are given out one at a time, a new one each day. The last digit is never given. The first player to open it wins.
Squatter's Right Time alone in the 16 by 16 column at spawn.
The Tower Tallest column of blocks you placed within 96 blocks of spawn.
Breach the Floor Time spent under the bedrock floor within 1,000 blocks of spawn.
The Tithe Offerings dropped at a shrine 300 to 800 blocks out, 9 in all. The shrine's position is announced. First to give all 9 wins. If nobody does, the most offerings wins.
Wither Cull Withers killed within 1,000 blocks of spawn.
Gatekeeper Time the Nether portal you lit near spawn stays burning.
The Run First to reach 50,000 blocks from spawn and come back within 500 blocks in the same life. It starts on Monday at 19:00 UTC.

Details such as caps and minimums are shown by /weekly. Several trials ignore players who are idle. A parked account does not score. Lighthouse at the Origin and Gatekeeper score only while you are online.

The Curse

The Curse is the one trial that shows your position. It does so only after you accept with /weekly accept. /weekly revoke takes it back. The Eye falls on Monday at 19:00 UTC. An Eye nobody has carried for 24 hours comes back, and the last bearer is named. If you get the Eye another way, you are asked first, and you do not score or leak until you accept. Copies all count. Each extra copy in an online inventory halves the interval, down to 30 seconds. If you log out while carrying it, you are marked as having fled.

Privacy

Trial scores use stats and positions near spawn. Most trials never publish where you are.
