Turned
A common zone of clean land where chunks are turned by 90, 180 or 270 degrees in a geometric pattern.
Turned is a zone type in the Overworld. The land is ordinary, but some chunks have been turned on the spot.
What it looks like
- The terrain is clean vanilla land.
- Chunks picked by a pattern are rotated about their middle by a quarter turn, a half turn or three quarters. The turn is chosen per chunk.
- A turned chunk no longer lines up with its neighbours. Hills, rivers, caves and ore veins stop at the border and carry on in another direction. There is a seam at every border.
- Blocks keep their kind. Stairs, logs, doors and other blocks that face a way turn with the land, so a tree stays upright and a stair still reads as a stair.
- The pattern is centred on one point in the zone, and it is one of: grid, checker, diagonals, rings, stairs, wave or towers.
The seams are not gaps. The ground is whole. It just does not match.
Dangers
- A seam can be a wall or a step of any height, where a hill meets a valley.
- A river or a lake can end at a chunk border with a wall of water or a cliff.
How rare it is
Turned is a common zone, a little rarer than most: about one zone in 61. It exists in the Overworld only, and only in land generated after the 1.7.0 update. The land around spawn never gets it, so go far.
There are no other chunk errors inside the zone.
See Chunk errors for every zone type, and Exploring for how finds are logged.
