Still Sea
A rare Nether zone. The lava sea is gone, covered by one flat floor of smooth basalt.
Still Sea is a zone type in the Nether. The lava sea is gone. In its place is a flat floor of smooth basalt, level with where the lava was, out to the edge of the zone. Nothing moves.
What it looks like
- The floor is one block thick and dead flat. Shores, islands and the ceiling stay as they were.
- It is dark. Here and there a soul fire burns on a block of soul soil set into the floor: one to four fires in a group, in about six of every ten squares 48 blocks across.
- At the edge of the zone the floor stops, and the lava sea goes on.
Under the floor
The lava is still there, right under the floor. Every gap where it could get out is closed with smooth basalt, so none of it shows and none of it flows. Dig through the floor and you dig into lava.
By biome
The floor is smooth basalt in every biome. In basalt deltas, pools of lava and magma can form on it, as on all ground there.
Mobs spawn as they do in the rest of the biome. Striders do not, because there is no open lava. The zone has no loot and nothing worth mining.
How rare it is
Still Sea is a rare zone. About 0.6 percent of Nether zones are Still Sea, about one zone in 150. It exists in the Nether only, and only in Nether land far from anything that existed when it was added. The Nether around spawn never gets it, so go far.
There are no other chunk errors inside the zone.
