Clue scrolls

A scroll with a riddle about a kind of place. Go there, check, and a casket pays out. No coordinates.

A clue scroll is a piece of paper with a riddle. It never gives coordinates. It describes a kind of place, and you have to find one.

Getting one

Scrolls drop while you explore and travel: from new ground and from distance you cover. A finished contract sometimes pays one too. At most 3 drop to you in a UTC day. None drop before you have played 5 hours. Standing still, circling and staying in one small area do not count as play.

A scroll goes to your claim box. Take it with /contract claim.

Solving one

  1. Hold the scroll in your main hand and type /clue. It shows the riddle for your current step.
  2. Go to a place that fits. A step can be a biome, a zone type, a structure, a pose (crouch and look up, face north) or a kind of place, such as the Nether roof or the outer End.
  3. When you think you are in the right place, type /clue check. The server looks at where you stand. A right answer gives you the next step.
  4. After the last step, the casket goes to your claim box.

Easy scrolls have 2 to 3 steps. Medium scrolls have 3 to 4. The steps of a scroll never change.

The casket

The casket pays from the loot tables of the spawn events. A medium casket pays from the airdrop table, an easy one from the Crown Hill table. A casket can also hold a title. /log clues lists what you solved.

Rules

  • A scroll is plain paper with a name. The server keeps its state. Copies of a scroll share its progress, and only the first to solve it gets the casket.
  • An unsolved scroll is forgotten 90 days after it dropped. A solved one is forgotten 30 days after it was solved.
  • If your claim box can't take the casket, /clue check waits. Nothing is lost. Check again later.
